The Landscraper
‘Tao’ are the indigenous residence on Orchid island. Their vivid painting pattern and family houses create a strong sense of locality. Our design approach is to extract the architecture design strategies beneath their indigenous family house and transform them into modern design.
First, we incline the building mass toward the ocean where wind comes from, in order to prevent a strong confrontation of the wind. The tilted building also coherent to the environmental skyline. Thus, we create the shape which doesn’t stand out when looking from the ocean.
In order to integrate the high ceiling requirement for fire truck and the site slope, the architecture is designed as multi-level. Each story is designed setback. Hence, all stories can enjoy the terrace toward ocean.
